“There are notes between notes, you know...” - Sarah Vaughan

Lee Mo lives in those in-between spaces, where sweetness meets depth and tradition meets discovery. Her voice can feel as comforting as fresh corn prepared by a loving grandmother, then suddenly deepen into a dark, resonant brew that awakens the senses. A singer and songwriter who honors her musical lineage while leaping boldly into the future, Lee Mo reminds audiences where good music comes from while hinting at where it’s headed next.

Born and raised in Baltimore and artistically shaped in Philadelphia, Lee Mo graduated from Temple University with a degree in Vocal Jazz Performance. Her sound, rooted in gospel, soul, and jazz, was formed early. She began writing and composing songs as a youngster in Maryland, inspired by vocal giants like Yolanda Adams, Kim Burrell, Ella Fitzgerald, and Whitney Houston. In high school, she added trumpet to her musical arsenal, falling even deeper in love with jazz and sharpening her melodic instincts. Her reputation was built on stages large and small across Baltimore and Philadelphia, where she became a defining voice in the live music scene, performing at more than a dozen venues.

While still an undergraduate, she joined Christopher Stevens’ group Vertical Current as a featured vocalist, opening for artists such as Eric Roberson, Frank McComb, Derrick Hodge, and The Robert Glasper Experiment. She later headlined PureSoul Philly’s Candlelight concert series, paying tribute to legends including Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, and Amy Winehouse.

Lee Mo’s talent has carried her far beyond her home cities. She has toured both stateside and internationally, opening for artists like serpentwithfeet, Candace Springs, and Bernhoft, regularly sharing stages with industry heavyweights. A defining early moment in her career came when jazz and R&B icon Anita Baker publicly acknowledged her talent, encouraging her journey. That recognition was echoed years later when Lee Mo’s debut single, “Don’t Have a Reason,” received both critical and popular acclaim, along with another shoutout from Baker.

Since relocating to Los Angeles in 2021, Lee Mo’s career has expanded onto some of the world’s biggest platforms. She has performed on the Grammy stage with Lizzo, provided background vocals for artists such as Snoh Aalegra, Bobby Brown, PJ Morton, and Avery*Sunshine, and contributed studio vocals to Grammy-nominated albums by 6LACK and Childish Gambino. Her distinct vocal abilities landed her a regular spot at The Pinky Ring, Bruno Mars’ new club in Las Vegas, and in the summer of 2024, she toured Europe singing background with Doja Cat on the Scarlet tour. Most recently, she earned her first contribution to a Grammy Award–winning album with Cory Henry’s Church (2025).

Onstage and off, Lee Mo continues to make soulful contributions to the soundtrack of modern life—an artist grounded in legacy, alive in the present, and steadily shaping the future.
